Sonam:
I read recently the hair cutting aspect of the Refuge ceremony is in remembrence of one of the actions of the Buddha.
As Siddhartha was leaving his royal life behind for that of a wandering mendicant, he removed his fine clothing and gave them to his servant Channa. He then cut off his long hair. I believe his long hair was a symbol of his royal status.

Hi,

I am new to this website and the knowledge that i have accumulated going through this website is very resourceful, amazing insight into the nyingma buddhism.

Especially, the prayer section was worth going through. As, i was reading the prayers, i came across Bodhisattva Vow.If, anyone could explain more about it.that would be wonderful. Also got some few queries stated below :

(i)I would like to know, whether this vow is to be taken from a rinpoche or anyone can just do it at home by reciting this vow as a daily prayer?

(ii) By taking such vow, does that mean a person has become a nun?

(iii)How many vows a person can take in a life time?

Many thanks.
