One very important step on entering the path is to make aspirational prayers. It is the beginning of right focus and view. This habit is the very underpinning of one’s spiritual journey. Aspirational prayers are also a way to train the mind, based on altruism, to give birth to the great Bodhicitta in one’s mind.

For instance, one might pray “as I open this door may all pass through the door of liberation”

Or if eating delicious food one prays “as I receive nourishment may all sentient beings be fed by DHARMA”. This trains the mind to be less self absorbed and more likely to put the welfare of others before one’s own, to see one’s life as a vehicle by which to serve. To AWAKEN from the death-like sleep of ordinary view. For some kindness is not a natural habit. This is the life, the time to make it so!

If you can read the word Bodhicitta then you have the karma and power to accomplish it, and should NOT hesitate to practice! Life is quick, short and we must grab the opportunity while we may to make ourselves and our world BETTER. In human physical realm we all suffer from old age sickness, and death. These are inescapable! So we must use this time to prepare for our rebirth.

Kindness will bring happiness. Generosity will bring wealth in our future time. Keeping vows purely will make a beautiful body and Form. Pure thought will bring a clear balanced mind. As we make aspirational prayers we are beginning all that. To whom do we pray? Not to a conceptual god, old man on a throne. But to the 3 jewels, Lama, Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, which are the very display of one’s own pristine primordial nature. This is our own true face.

So one is in a sense purifying one’s own perception in order to wake UP as lord Buddha is awake. Selfishness, dullness, anger, cruelty are ALL causes for a low rebirth. One must build pure view by examining the condition of other sentient beings to understand. They are the same in their nature: separated only buy habitual tendency; Karma. All suffer. All wish to be happy. All strive as you do. With very little result until they train their minds. We must apply method, which is stated clearly in the 8-fold path as Buddha taught. And I have also,as I follow his teaching.

“As I offer these humble words, may they bring benefit to all beings. May all who suffer find the WAY!” This is my prayer. And after I teach all I know, may I have the honor to see ALL cross this ocean of suffering; to be last in order to guide others to the Ship to Liberation! For their sake, my children. OM AH HUNG BENZAR GURU PEMA SIDDHI HUNG Sarwa mangalam!

Thank you for offering your attention, and allowing me to speak the precious lessons taught by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas through the ages.

By this merit may the sick be healed, may the hungry be fed, may cruelty and hatred end, may confused minds be mended and may there be PEACE!

From a Series of Tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Good HOT afternoon, Twitterverse from Barnesville MD where I am better and the pack is well. I feel like my body is processing dark energy and I have been able to throw it off.

The thing is to transform it to bliss, light; if one bounces it back to the sender you are as evil as them.

I would NEVER go low and dark like that. There is no place for that in my life, and the planet does not need it. We need pure Bodhicitta.

There is never an excuse for causing harm to others. Lord Buddha taught us this. If we cannot cure, then at least do no harm.

As for me, I always try to take on and transform negativity; I never let it harm others. I pray for the courage and strength to endure.

May the great ancient ones who Protect Palyul especially come forth and protect PURE DHARMA and PURE PRACTIONERS! #stopthehate #Tibet

From a series of Tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo @ahkonlhamo

When one assumes the role of teacher, Guru, sensei, whatever, one has an ethical responsibility to reveal qualifications and identity. When students follow a Guru there must be trust and respect. The teacher owes the disciple the respect of transparency and character, so the disciple can make an informed choice on an issue that will affect them in EVERY future life. If one is misguided they will spiral down spiritually.

If a person, in their delusion and psychosis believes themselves to be a Guru that does not grant qualities. One MUST see the life and past history and good works so the student can be careful. If the person seeking to teach is ethical they will give that information.

Remember that seeds produce their OWN fruit. An apple seed will never produce a pineapple. A man with violence, perversion and dishonesty will always produce more of the same. It is the seed of their life. A person may find redemption if they work VERY hard and for a long time to do so. There is NO instant change. One MUST apply the antidote; and after a low life of violence and shame, can only hope to purify their wrongdoing. To jump up and hide identity, claiming enlightenment and instant ability to teach others is absurd and makes fools of the followers. They are looking for pure accomplishment, not a song and dance. Not kabuki theatre with masks. How will they know?

Now, if one wishes to TALK about Dharma and debate- well anyone CAN do that AND it is a good thing. As long as nothing is hidden and the discussion is open to all. AND the Guru wannabe DOES NOT CLAIM TO BE an ENLIGHTENED MASTER. That robs students of choice and dignity. It is snake-oil criminal. Period. If there is delusion, psychosis and a dark violent conniving past it must be revealed for the sake of all sentient beings.

Talk all you want, but do NOT fool honest followers. Some evidently don’t care about character, talk to them, but man, do NOT lie to put yourself up or mix your paint so no one knows what you are. Drop and purify that diseased ego. We don’t need it

And nobody will EVER benefit from your haughty self cherishing. Like a bad little boy playing king. We have politicians for that.

“I SEE YOU”. How I wish we all could SEE like that. I want to move to Pandora and get an Avatar body.

As on Pandora I wish the people knew their oneness with tree + forest. Could connect utterly! Walk with grace and beauty! Lived in spirit!

Ooh, right. The indigenous American Indians were just so; and we killed them like in Avatar. We burnt their mother. Our mother.

I guess that’s why we’ll never live on Pandora. We are not blue, we are whitey/pink. And we burn our Mother every day. OM MANI PEDME HUNG

I am hoping to teach on Sunday, if merit prevails. I am aware that we are growing, and that new students are coming. I would like to help them get a good foundation, and who doesn’t need more Bodhicitta training, Dzogchen View and Guru Yoga? We all do.

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche always taught a solid foundation was necessary and resisted teaching Dzogchen for years. He felt we must rely on the Guru and taught a lot of Guru Yoga at first. But the most important thing is to give rise to Bodhicitta.

Without the preliminaries, higher Tantra cannot take root. Like seeds falling on stone, there is no way it can anchor and grow. Like a hard, dry mind, seeds cannot awaken. Even if one is completely convinced of their “realization” it is not the case. Bodhicitta is the very essence and display of Primordial Buddhanature.

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche always displayed such kindness. Even when he was wrathful it was based on Bodhicitta, the wish to remove obstacles. And he did. In the end, I only remember the loving kindness he always showed me – his giggle, his power, his love and support, which I ache for now.

I was given a book as a gift, looks interesting. It is by Diana Mukpo, widow of HE Trungpa Rinpoche. Called “Dragon Thunder: My Life with Chogyam Trungpa.”

I have been curious about their relationship since Bill Cassidy trashed it so badly. Having experience with his vile gossip I’d like to see for myself what the story is. They look totally in love on the cover, a sweet kiss. Knowing Cassidy, his dark, sick version is a big fat lie.

Funny about liars, they get to a point where they lie to themselves as well. And no one can ever trust them. They can never trust themselves

Therefore, I feel lies are like beartraps in that once stepping in U’ll never be the same. You will get caught. And it hurts. Stay away

From liars and beartraps. Watch you don’t end up in bear poop!
Dear Twitterville, I woke up pretty sick today. Woke up feeling I’d been beaten with a pipe. Then I saw on twitter last night I had! Hate.

I woke up thrashing, crying, calling to the Buddhas and Protectors to help. Then I woke up and prayed. I’m exhausted and feeling awful.

Hate should not be permitted to thrive on twitter. In today’s world it’s about connecting, loving, sharing, networking. Just as foster dogs got saved by me and my peeps due to Twitter. And a friend given $$$ for rent. I call for twitter to be cleaned up and allowed to reach it’s full potential to improve our world and strengthen the world community. It should not be used to serve cruelty and evil.

We MUST band together and INSIST the haters + demonic types do not take us down.Complain LOUDLY, then block and ignore.Remember: war IS the enemy.

What’s right is right; what’s wrong is wrong. Ethics matter. And we must with compassion, banish hate+lies. And give LOVE space to grow!

Anyhow, I’m ill, my pack is worried as hell I don’t seem OK to them. Alpha#1 is down! Everyone panic! Poor loves. I’ll take them to cuddle.

If one cannot practice even ordinary human kindness, how can one EVER hope to give rise to Bodhicitta?

If one has no strength to keep even one moral precept, how will that one EVER awaken to Buddhahood?

If one cares not one bit for the welfare of sentient beings, how will that one EVER attain Buddhahood?

If one knows no discrimination, knows not what to accept and what to reject, that being will revolve in cyclic existence endlessly.

Whoever seduces someone away from their sacred vows, that one is reborn in Vajra Hell, as well as the vow breaker.

If one does not offer food to the hungry, that one will be endlessly hungry. Their food will do no good. Or cause homelessness, no shelter

These are quotes from me, Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, based on years of study, practice, and inborn wisdom. My life bears witness, and I offer this to you.

A teaching by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo (via Twitter @ahkonlhamo on May 10, 2010)

Of the three root poisons – hate, greed, and ignorance – I find hate the most repugnant, as it affects more than the hater. But the root poisons are interdependent. If there is hate, there is desire – wanting what is not yours, jealousy of status, power, or material goods. Nations war for plunder (oil), power, land, and sadly, extremist religious belief (power).

Desire can exist without hate, but not often or easily. Desire, however is what binds us to phenomena, it constantly focuses on self and other – duality. One has to be seeing beings as separate in their nature, which indeed we are not. There can be no grasping with correct view.

Now ignorance is the bottom line. Ignorance is not lack of knowledge. A PHD can be ignorant. A scholar can easily be so. Ignorance is lack of awakening to the primordial ground of being. In other words, the person is not “awake” as Buddha described; not able to discriminate between primordial nature and it’s display, phenomena.

That is ignorance, and scholarship does not alter it. When people try to explain primordial nature they likely never met “it.” There are no words that describe. That sort of intellectual masturbation is NO help; is harmful in that people become jaded. To talk about “truth” crucifies it on a “cross.” You can see the trace or shadow, but are blind to the miraculous. Having said that we should strive to study Dharma faithfully, being careful not to generate pridefulness. The main point of Dharma is awakening; so we must meditate and practice!

We must be mindful that not everyone who talks the talk actually walks the walk. You must study the life (not the story) to see who is who. If you look for a teacher, study, research, do not go suddenly blind because you are seduced, spiritually! Teacher and student should examine ach other for at least three years before a sacred commitment. It is a relationship that will return life after life! So be careful, there are many self-anointed wizards out there that must NOT be trusted. Think of your path as a virgin daughter, and guard her with your heart. And now it’s time to pray! What a coincidence!! Do we talk it or do we walk it?
