An inclusive way of speaking, an appeal to people’s highest emotions, is very successful in unifying others.  A satisfying conversational opportunity presents itself.  If someone wants to talk, shove everything else aside and join in!  Something important can be settled.  At the same time, a tense situation arises, one that is fundamentally intractable.  The great danger is that a hothead (you?) will decide to “go for it!” and charge in when it’s better sit on the sidelines.  Wait this out.  There is NO open door for the serious situation today.  Gautama Buddha said, “The greatest prayer is patience.”  Nevertheless do your best to give others, even people who seem like they’re not listening, the benefit of kindness.  They will remember.  It won’t be obvious today but a friend is made who will be on your side in the future.
