Ethical Responsibility of a Teacher

From a series of Tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo @ahkonlhamo

When one assumes the role of teacher, Guru, sensei, whatever,  one has an ethical responsibility to reveal qualifications and identity.  When students follow a Guru there must be trust and respect. The teacher owes the disciple the respect of transparency and character, so the disciple can make an informed choice on an issue that will affect them in EVERY future life. If one is misguided they will spiral down spiritually.

If a person, in their delusion and psychosis believes themselves to be a Guru that does not grant qualities. One MUST see the life and past history and good works so the student can be careful. If the person seeking to teach is ethical they will give that information.

Remember that seeds produce their OWN fruit. An apple seed will never produce a pineapple. A man with violence, perversion and dishonesty will always produce more of the same. It is the seed of their life.   A person may find redemption if they work VERY hard and for a long time to do so. There is NO instant change. One MUST apply the antidote; and after a low life of violence and shame, can only hope to purify their wrongdoing. To jump up and hide identity, claiming enlightenment and instant ability to teach others is absurd and makes fools of the followers.  They are looking for pure accomplishment, not a song and dance. Not kabuki theatre with masks. How will they know?

Now, if one wishes to TALK about Dharma and debate- well anyone CAN do that AND it is a good thing. As long as nothing is hidden and the discussion is open to all. AND the Guru wannabe DOES NOT CLAIM TO BE an ENLIGHTENED MASTER. That robs students of choice and dignity.  It is snake-oil criminal. Period.  If there is delusion, psychosis and a dark violent conniving past it must be revealed for the sake of all sentient beings.

Talk all you want, but do NOT fool honest followers. Some evidently don’t care about character, talk to them, but man, do NOT lie to put yourself up or mix your paint so no one knows what you are. Drop and purify that diseased ego. We don’t need it

And nobody will EVER benefit from your haughty self cherishing. Like a bad little boy playing king. We have politicians for that.

Calling to His Holiness Penor Rinpoche

His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo at KPC-MD

“As human beings who live for about 80yrs, we have been sleeping for about 40 of those years. Of the 40 years awake we spend most time on worldly activity where we accumulate the five poisons of the afflicted mind. There are very few who spend any time at all on Dharma Practice. Even if we spend 5 out of the 40 years on practice we still have not done a good practice. But whatever benefits we have in life and whatever positive things happen are all really based on that practice” From Kyabje His Holinesss Penor Rinpoche

When, I ask, will such a Lama as His Holiness Penor Rinpoche come again? Whose life given to purity, every word the nectar of Bodhicitta- when?  Tsawei Lama!

No one can substitute, no one else can speak to my heart, no one else opens my eyes, empowers my speech, matures my mind. Tsawei Lama-Return!

Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche is Buddha. Since his Parinirvana I feel even closer to him. Calling from afar, he answers, he is here he is BUDDHA!

Wow. I’m crying, deer are gathering in the field, a powerful storm is coming, and Kyabje His Holiness Penor Rinpoche appears, I am not alone. E ma ho.

Om Ah Hung Vajra Guru Pema Siddhi Hung!

From a series of tweets:

So many Spiritual teachers today are deeply invested in being a teacher solely out of ego, are only giving and loving when adored.

How sad, like the blind leading the blind over a cliff. If a teacher puts someone down because the person will not follow- watch out.

There you have a demon in disguise, and locked into defending their own ego. What has such a teacher to offer? Nothing. Ego.

Yet we see this all the time. If a teacher has doubts about those that do not automatically fall under their spell they R as dust.

In fact, if a teacher is not completely impartial, where is their realization? Should I have less loving concern for one who will not follow?

That kind of teacher can be bought and paid for and are of absolutely no use. They sell Dharma for power + approval, are addicts themselves.

Wisdom and compassion cannot be bought, faked, created, rented, copied. Only when ego is destroyed is there progress.

Wisdom and compassion are naturally occurring when ego is pacified. Ego is a contrivance, and must be dismantled brick by brick.

Therefore if a teacher is flattering and pumping your ego up, they are buying it, and you. Like a slave you are sold into bondage.

As the ego is puffed up larger and larger, neurosis, fear, hatred greed and ignorance rise up and overcome.  Spirit sickens, dies.

If some “teacher” is buying you with praise and flattery, it will certainly be taken back when you do not agree completely.

Likewise, if a teacher will reflect bad qualities back so they may be purified, is willing to go toe to toe, can then still LOVE,

You can comfortably and with confidence call that one GURU. If they have credentials and compassion, you are truly home.

If you were my own babe at breast, I would not tell you differently, and would always offer the milk of Bodhicitta!
