Blah!  Early in the morning you may feel down or demoralized.  Ok, keep going.  Remember your goals and re-inspire yourself.  Thomas Merton said, “Your life is shaped by the end you live for.  You are made in the image of what you desire.” It is especially important to keep the big picture, your long-term goals, in mind today.  Let your goals point the direction that you take and the activities you engage in.  With this in mind, all your activities and choices are right.  But if you forget where you want to go, you will spin your wheels.  It’s your choice.

Exercise feels good and it keeps things moving.  Lydia Child said, “You find yourself refreshed by the presence of cheerful people.  Why not make an honest effort to confer that pleasure on others?”  Thinking of a higher cause and a greater purpose really buoys your spirits today.  Remember that purpose and keep it in your mind’s eye all day.

You must take action, and you need to be careful.  Be assertive, and go to the source.  Moshe Dayan said, “If you want to make peace, you don’t talk to your friends.  You talk to your enemies.”  Are you surrounding yourself, safely, with people who think you’re right about everything?  Check with people who don’t agree with you, and you’ll have a clearer picture of what needs to be done.  There are always two sides to every issue, and it’s good to know what the other side believes before you move forward.

New beginning day!  Today is the first day of…the rest of the month.  But don’t let that discourage you.  Every brick builds on the one before.  There are no great things in life, just one thing after another.  It’s only by looking back that progress is seen.  Today you have the impetus to begin a new project.  It has to do with money, finances, intrigue, and behind-the-scenes activity.  Do not speak of your plans to everyone; just the chosen few who are an integral part of the operation should be clued in.  This gives you the ability to negotiate carefully and accurately.  Beware of “talking away” your plans, of speaking so much of what you will do that you have no energy to do it.  Decide what you are going to do and begin, in no matter how small a way.  John Ruskin said, “I know well that happiness is in little things.”
