Mantra-thon!

Chenrezig

Now is a wonderful time to benefit beings, and one way we can do that is through the recitation of mantra.  From now until Chotrul Duchen on March 19,  we will be accumulating mantra for the benefit of the world and all beings.  The time between Tibetan New Year, called Losar, and Chotrul Duchen is considered to be very auspicious.  Meritorious activity is said to be multiplied 100,000 times.

The mantra we are accumulating is the Mani mantra:

Om Mani Pedme Hung

To learn more about the Mani mantra, click here.

How to participate in the Mantra-thon:

1.  Set your intention to benefit beings

2.  Accumulate the mantra – Om Mani Pedme Hung as many times as possible

3.  Dedicate the merit you have accumulated, and

4.  Send your accumulations to [email protected]!

On Chotrul Duchen we will announce the grand total accumulated!

The following is a dedication prayer written by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo that can be used to dedicate the merit:

By this effort may all sentient beings be free of suffering.

May their minds be filled with the nectar of virtue.

In this way may all causes resulting in suffering be extinguished

And only the light of compassion shine throughout all realms.

The Power of Om Mani Padme Hung

Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara) is the embodiment of the Compassion of all the Buddhas.
Every aspect of the eighty-four thousand sections of the Buddha’s teachings are contained in Chenrezig’s six syllable mantra “Om Mani Padme Hung.”  Repeating the mantra (prayer), out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevelent blessings of Chenrezig.

The mantra is endowed with the capacity to purify our mind from the veils that obscure it. The six syllables correspond to the six perfections, helping one to achieve perfection in the practice of generosity, pure ethics, tolerance, patience, perserverance, concentration and wisdom.

The mantra opens the mind to love and compassion and leads it toward awakening.
Any being who hears the sound of the mantra is blessed and it is particularly beneficial to animals and those who are suffering.

These are the six syllables of the mantra written in the Tibetan alphabet:

Reading from left to right the syllables are:
Om
(ohm)
Ma
(mah)
Ni
(nee)
Pad
(pahd)
Me
(may)
Hum
(hum)

Chenrezigs’ mantra, is chanted constantly around the world to produce peace on earth.

Dedication Prayer by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

By this effort, may all sentient beings be free of suffering.  May their minds be filled with the nectar of virtue.  In this way may all causes resulting in suffering be extinguished and only the light of compassion shine throughout all realms.

Loving Kindness and Adversity

From a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, known as @JALpalyul on Twitter:

My dear, much Beloved Tweethearts I haven’t been on much today. Follow Friday! But I’ve been quite exhausted and feeling low. Nothing happening in my reality to upset me, except the continuous stream of lying and hate that has come to me for years now. By those who readily admit they are bird dogging me, and digging through my underwear drawer for something “wrong” with me. When they can’t find anything wrong they just make it up!

So I find myself deeply sad and emotionally exhausted. I have no fight in me. They are amused but still beat a nearly dead horse and laugh.

I pray they will find their way spiritually and ethically, and stop wasting time. They both have heart disease and just do not understand karma, cause and effect. They cannot see through the hate long enough to know that in trying to destroy me and KPC they are actually destroying themselves.

I wish as a mother I could comfort them. Hold them and speak of truth, love, living and dying in a noble way. Wish I could heal them as only LOVE and TRUTH can do.

But the walls are up; I cannot get in to help. I can pray for them and I do – every day.

I have thousands of followers on twitter and on my Altar blog. They in truth have very few. But I cannot be satisfied until I see their pain end. I think of them with a sorrow so deep I cannot explain.

If a pure display of love is squelched it is beyond tragic as the world needs love!

I wish I could help them; however my experience is that if I show my gentle side I get knifed in the back by these two – over and over.

I didn’t sign up for Crucifixion in this life. Another faith, that.

I pray for the day they just stop. Maybe try to help people? Animal rescue? Volunteering to help others? Comfort those in hospice? Tutor a child? There are many ways to help. Then there is no time to beat people up. One can live a helpful and productive life. Not end up in jail with a felony record. A waste of life when there is Dharma available.

There is no time to waste! We are taught in the four thoughts that turn the mind: It is like going to a continent of precious jewels and coming back empty handed.

That is the most tragic thing of all; to waste this precious human rebirth, with all its endowments on gathering trash.

So for these people I pray:

OM MANI PEDME HUNG!

OM AH HUNG BENZAR GURU PEDMA SIDDHI HUNG!

OM BENZAR SATO HUNG!

May this heal all enemies to Dharma and bring joy to all!

Introduction to Mantra Recitation

from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

If you see any animal dying, even a bug or worm, recite audibly *OM AMI DEWA HRI* then *OM MANI PEDME HUNG* to bless them, for a good rebirth.

If you or someone you know suffers from mental confusion recite *OM AH RA PA TSA NA DHI* to Bodhisattva Manjushri and then *DHI D D D….. At least one full MALA of each.

If you are on the spiritual path and wish to find your Guru or repair any connection with GURU recite *OM AH HUNG BENZAR GURU PEMA SIDDHI HUNG* That is the Mantra for GURU Padmasambhava, the lotus born Guru.

If one sees a disaster, natural or otherwise; or many suffering pray to Tara, Mother of all Buddhas recite; *OM TARE TU TARE TURE SOHA*
