Thus, of the seven Avalokitesvaras, in the heart of the central one, is a moon seat upon which is a HRIH, surrounded by the six syllables. In the heart of the six surrounding Avalokitesvaras, are the respective seed syllables of each one, such as OM, and so on, also surrounded by the six syllables of the mantra.

The Praise

HRIH   In the Realm of Avalokitesvara, where good and bad are non-dual,

Likewise appearances are understood to be illusionary in nature.

Within a state of pure perception, void of compulsory attachment,

CHAG  DANG  RANG  DROL DAG  PA  RAB JYAM  SHING

Is the pure expansive realm of self-liberation attachment and aversion.

THUG  JE  CHEN  POI  SHING  LA  CHAG  TSAL  TÖD

I prostrate and render praise to the Realm of Avalokitesvara.

HRIH NANG  TONG  NYI  MED  THUG  JE  CHEN  PÖ  KU

HRIH   The Body of Avalokitesvara is the indivisibility of appearance and emptiness.

The empty nature of appearance like the reflection of the moon of water.

NANG  SHIN  TONG  PA  GYA  TSO  CHEN  PÖ  NGANG

Within this great ocean of the empty nature of appearance,

Is the pure expansive Body of self-liberated empty appearances.

Within the inexpressible empty nature of sound,

Is the pure expansive Speech of self-liberated empty sound.

I prostrate and render praise to the Speech of Avalokitesvara.

Within clear emptiness, similar to the sky,

Is the pure expansive Mind of self-liberating clarity and emptiness.

Kill, kill, strike, strike, with the sound of the six syllables;

Wielding various offering materials such as a spear, sword and arrow.

In the pure great expanse of self-liberation of happiness and suffering,

NANG  SID  THUG  JE  CHEN  PO  LA  CHAG  TSAL  TÖD

I prostrate and render praise to the Avalokitesvara of phenomenal existence.

A fantasy or dream inspires you and pulls you out of sync with the world.  Or else you wake up slowly and aren’t ready to meet reality yet.  Water is a cure and a help today.  Get wet if possible!  Go to the beach, bathe or get rained on! Drink as much water as you can.  A positive relationship exists between fluids and health, emotional or even physical issues.  You’re more tender than usual, so be gentle with yourself.  Dianne Arbus said, “The thing that’s important to know is that you never know.  You’re always sort of feeling your way.” The pervasive energy is so rambunctious that you can be forgiven for needing a rest. Elsewhere, a generous person is nearby and a gift given makes all the difference!

Hope for All

It is going well here, I’m still in NY, happy and meditating. It is so lovely here. The Lamas are teaching, so the students are doing well.

Here we try not to gossip or make bad feelings, or divide the Palyul sangha. When His Holiness Penor Rinpoche was here, he set the precedent for not allowing gossip and we try hard to maintain. I’ve been around a while and seen for myself the glory of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche’s pure and kind leadership, and how He kept expanding and growing, even when he was sick.

I am sure His Holiness Karma Kuchen will carry on with the highest Bodhicitta. So there is confidence in the future.

Remember, if there is no heart in one’s practice there is no Bodhicitta and no result. Remember, in Tibet many pure practitioners without formal training would accumulate mantra with great heart all day and night and achieve the rainbow body. So we need not fear! There is hope and realization for all. And room for all types of practitioners, just do your Dharma!

Astrology

A man or important person pulls you in one direction and your group pulls you in another.  Partnership is strong and a grand trine in air signs makes everybody smart as a whip.  Information is zipping through your head at the speed of light, and you are up to the challenge!  Pride may incline you toward being stuck in your beliefs, uninterested in accepting new ideas.  Why?  Because YOU believe them!  Be flexible and willing to learn new things.  It’s an “old dog new trick” sort of day.  Something that worked once may no longer be effective.  Taro Gold said, “To change our lives, we must first change our minds.”  Be kind to yourself when you realize that you must change to stay in sync with the world.  A powerful entity is morphing into a something new.  Stand back and let it happen.  If you are not directly part of this situation, stay out.  It is deeper and more complex than you think.

Gratitude and Joyful Effort: Reclaiming the Peace Park

We never know how profoundly we touch the lives of so many.  Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC) has many opportunities for people (and animals!) to connect with something spiritual deep within themselves.  Seekers from all walks come to KPC whether it’s for meditation, seeing the Stupas, walking the trails in the Peace Park, using the energy powers of the crystals, or simply to sit and have tea among a group of folks focused on compassion and peace in our world.  Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo, Spiritual Director and founder of KPC purposely created a space with a 24 hour prayer vigil that still exists today for more than 27 years dedicated to bringing about the end of suffering.

One of the many activities at KPC involves the Stupa and Peace Park, home to more than 15 stupas, prayer wheels, gardens and crystals along windy and beautiful trails that connect each of the gardens in a metaphysical formation inspiring healing energy.  All of this located in Montgomery County, Maryland minutes from the Potomac River.

On June 2nd of this year, Kat Johnson came out to the Stupa and Peace Park after many years of being away.  She had visited KPC several years ago, prior to the winter storms of the last five or six years.  Kat was devastated to see the condition of the park knowing how beautiful and pristine it had once been.  On her visit in early June, she brought several friends along, meeting one of Jetsunma’s ordained, Ani Dolma, who was working on repairing one of the stupas in the park.  They talked for several minutes, and Ani Dolma explained how the storms over the last several years had been really hard on the Peace Park, bringing down a lot of trees, blocking many of the trails, and vegetation overgrowth.  It was hard to even see the entrance to the park.  Heavy snows had been hard on the stupas as well.  In short, the Stupa and Peace Park had become victim to the harshness of mother-nature, and while efforts had been made to reclaim trails, more people were needed in order to really bring back the pristine element of the park.

Kat promised Ani Dolma she wanted to come back with more people and help rebuild the park as she had remembered it, and what it had done for her.  They exchanged contact information, and a friendship was formed.  On June 30th, Kat and several of her friends came out, all members of the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, and helped reclaim what is endearingly referred to as the Green Garden.  The trail had been completely taken over by vegetation, and it had become difficult to find the garden much less get to it.  After six hours of digging, pulling, chopping and hauling the Green Garden was resurrected with a clear trail, and the garden was unearthed from mounds of vegetation. Approximately 20 feet of the trail leading to the garden had eroded and it was difficult to get down into the garden safely.  Kat’s crew worked with Ani Dolma and a new trail, complete with steps was erected, all made from downed trees.

The color gardens correspond to five directions (North, South, East, West and Central), and the five purifications of the five poisons.  The Green Garden is associated with the direction of North, and corresponds to All-Accomplishing wisdom, purifying the poison of jealousy.  Each of the five color gardens has prayer flags, prayer wheels, a crystal and small stupa.  The land itself, approximately 65 acres was over-farmed and was recovering well when harsh winters set us back.

Kat and her friends had such a great day in June; she decided to contact a friend of hers, who is a primary manager and coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group, Kellie Carlisle.  Kellie is a certified wildlife hike leader, and first aid trained.  She was inspired by Kat’s commentary of the stupa and peace park, and together the two of them have organized a group of 70 – 100 volunteers who are scheduled to come out to KPC on August 5th, and help clear trails, push back vegetation, and help revive the stupa and peace park.  Ani Dolma will be on site, and is organizing a large BBQ for the evening, to show KPC’s appreciation to these two ladies, and all those who are coming out to help re-establish the KPC stupa and peace park.  Stupa repairs will also be ongoing over the weekend, and throughout the remainder of the year.

You are in the mood to hang out!  Be generous and respectful of others. Divide your time carefully, don’t play favorites and give each side…the group and the leader… its due.  Conversations can clear up issues from the past, and you are still clearing up previous matters.  Forgot to write your mother, pay your taxes or register your car?  Do it now!  It’s a busy time and a great time for exercise and activity of all sorts.  A partner pushes things forward, and you’ll need to work hard to maintain your own boundaries.  Think for yourself. Taro Gold said, “We think and behave within the boundaries of our beliefs.  The key, then, is to master our beliefs, to master our minds.”

Astrology

Serious emotions must be faced.  Age and poor health are a fact of life.  Be respectful of those who are ahead of you in wisdom or in years.  Slow down and be mindful of the obstacles facing others: plan realistically for those who need your help and try not to engage in wishful thinking. This takes awareness, especially since the dominant theme of the times is joy, happiness and exuberance.  Partnerships are forming at the speed of light and a stalemate has ended at last!  It’s a fun time, and lightweight conversations point the way to real progress. Kind, loving words and gestures mean everything today.  If it sounds as though two wildly divergent themes are here, they are!  Nichiren said, “A truly wise person will not be carried away by any of the eight winds:  prosperity, decline, disgrace, honor, praise, censure, suffering, pleasure.”  Be wise.

What joy! I’m finding out students have formed a connection with Palyul Buddhism from my online activities. They practice together, have study groups from my blog and tweets. I knew it was through twitter and other social media that we could all be together and I am thrilled to be a doorway for this. I’ve met students I’ve never seen before! What joy to open wide the doors of Palyul and connect as family. And want to support their efforts by writing instructions and teachings from Palyul and myself as well. A good way to make Dharma free! Once His Holiness Penor Rinpoche told me I’d have Palyul centers all around the world. I thought that seemed impossible, but maybe not. Maybe this is the way.

As my pain heals I will not be as challanged, and will be able to travel. And you may contact us about how that may happen. How exciting! I am 100% Palyul and will open doors for this noble family as well as I can. Kindness is the way. Come to KPC and I am well I will come to you. Wherever you are, whoever you are, I honor you and reach out with love, compassion and respect for all.

Someone is very insistent, and you must do as this person wishes.  You feel you are being herded along at another’s command. Follow directions and then quickly leave the scene, rather than making a scene!  Once you’re back on your own, you’ll be at liberty to do as you please.  If you are the one telling others what to do, be alert to the fact that not everyone appreciates this; you’ll know by how quickly people vanish.  See it as a learning situation! Taro Gold said, “Good may be defined as anything promoting harmony, empathy and compassion.  Evil, on the other hand, promotes divisiveness within people, nations and humanity.”  Be good!   Elsewhere, love is stable, news is great and men are especially creative!
