There are no physical markers by which to measure progress between positive and negative forces in consciousness.  Changes begin when you first identify & recognize your delusions, such as anger and jealousy. One then needs to know the antidote to delusion, and that knowledge is gained by listening to the teachings. There is NO simple way to remove delusions. They cannot be extracted surgically.  They have to be recognized, and then, through the practice of these teachings can be gradually reduced and then completely eliminated!

These teachings offer the means to free oneself from delusion; a path that eventually leads to freedom from all suffering and to the BLISS of enlightenment. The more one comes to understand the Dharma, or Buddhist teachings, the weaker will be the grip of pride, hatred, greed, and other negative emotions that cause so much suffering. Applying this understanding in daily life over a period of months and years will gradually transform the mind because despite the fact that it often seems otherwise, the mind is subject to change.

Though we realize the harm caused by our delusions, such as damage done to ourselves and others when we act out of anger we still fall under its influence. Thus an untamed mind throws us recklessly into the abyss instead of stopping when it sees the edge.

All merit dedicated to the continued Long Life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet. Gratitude for the great blessing of His kind words! All benefit!

Similarly even I have taught that self-honesty in viewing one’s faults and taking the necessary antidote is truly the way. -JAL

Power Play!  You want your due, and your pride can pressure you to demand recognition.  You’re too polite to say it, true, but the feeling is there.  State your case plainly, but stick with a posture of humility.  Milton’s bad boy himself decided, “Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven” but also said, “The mind is its own place, and in itself Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.”  Your choices may not be quite so extreme, but a decision is at hand.  Be sure you make the right one, and put yourself on the “good guy” side.

Sad, serious things are in the air.  Hurt feelings, a sense of betrayal or disrespect, plague your thinking.  You may be staying, out of sense of duty, with something that has hurt you or begun to bore you. Make a decision today.  If you have been hurt, either forgive the person or situation, or else leave.  Do not remain with negative or resentful feelings.  Express yourself and be kind.  Try to see the big picture.  The past is attempting to pull you back through reminiscences and memories.  Remember Francois Cheng’s words, “We are always at the beginning of things, in the fragile moment that holds the power of life.  We are always at the morning of the world.”  Take heart, face the future, not the past.

An emotional disturbance may have occurred during the night.  A nightmare, an upset child or person must be addressed, and you awaken troubled.  You or someone else is moody and sentimental early in the day, and it seems you’ve been pulled back into an upsetting scenario from the past.  If you think, “I’ve seen this one before,” turn and put your attention in the opposite direction from the issue.  That is where you should be headed!  You won’t want to do this, but if you do your mind will happily engage again and things will pick up.  A good meal, a brisk walk, a chat with a friend or a neighbor will set things right again.  Emotions are the enemy today. Activity is the antidote.

Creativity and imagination shine today.  Inspiration is back after a bit of an absence.  Shelley said, “Rarely, rarely comest thou, Spirit of Delight! Wherefore has thou left me now Many a day and night?”  Today you feel delighted again, and you know you’ve missed it.    Have fun, be inspired, and be careful to separate work and enjoyment.  There’s a danger of making a mistake through happiness and inattentiveness that wouldn’t happen if you were in “nose to the grindstone mode.”  Work on the job and have fun somewhere else.  You deserve it!

Don’t get misled! “Ah” is Sanskrit or Tibetan. It is not Japanese or Chinese. It is the seed vowel of our Primordial Wisdom Nature, the very ground of being. Buddha Primordial! It is our own pristine face. Please don’t be confused.

It is so essential to understand “Ah,” as it is the primordial ground of display. The ground – Buddha nature. The path – Dharma, or method.  The fruit is Buddhahood. Notice the relationship of seed, ground; and fruit, result. Cause and effect! The result can never be other than the seed. One cannot awaken to Buddhahood if the ground and path, seed and method are wrong. Ground/method/result, seed/path/fruit.  THIS is what the Buddha taught. Do not be confused by false teachings. There is no magic, miracle cure for samsara. It’s not for slackers!

Dedicated to all those who in their ignorance, oppose the Buddha’s teaching.  May their afflictions be antidoted.  May they find peace and happiness.

Details are accurate and a phone call or bit of information from the right source seals the deal! Exercise is excellent as is going out and seeing or doing something new.  Your idea or plan can translate into financial good fortune! Do it! Listen to women and children and people in positions of authority.  They can provide the information that re-frames things into a workable package.  Cicero said, “The mind is stronger than the body, so the ills contracted by the mind more severe than those contracted by the body.”  Your mind is healthy today!  Use it.

You are balancing delicately opposing forces, and the outcome is extremely important to your cause.  Pressure, tension, yes they are present.  At the same time, keep the big picture in mind and you have a real chance of succeeding.  The mode changes from fixed to flexible during the course of the day, and if you change your mind about something, take action!
