Prayer for Tex Gabriel

Tex Gabriel

Dear ones, I ask for #prayer for my beloved friend and master guitarist Wayne (Tex) Gabriel. You may remember him as John Lennon’s lead.

#JohnLennon lead guitarist after the #Beatles broke up. He has had a stroke, needs UR #Prayers. He and I have recorded together, are friends.

Tex Gabriel is the most amazingly talented ax man I have ever known. His guitar speaks, sings. I admire and love this man dearly.

We will perform Puja for healing at KPC Md on Sunday at 2:00. All who love John Lennon and Tex Gabriel are welcome. Prayers needed!

Tex Gabriel’s talent is peerless. As a man he is kind, loving, gentle. As a musician he will work all day +night to give you what you want.

He is so dear to my heart! I will not quit praying for him until he is healed. Again: Tex Gabriel, #JohnLennon lead guitar after #Beatles.

I have had the profound joy and honor of working with this amazing man. With all my heart I pray I will have the opportunity again.

I love you, Tex, and your amazing lady, Marissa. Please come all the way in healing! I pray for that. You are always in my heart, beloved.

The people I respect most are those who are kind and willing to be of service to all beings. People who display compassion. Live it.

The people I respect are those who are capable of respecting the dignity of others. Honoring the Light in all. And living it.

The people I respect most are those who respect and maintain their enviornment. Who keep it pure, and make beauty where they are.

The people I respect most live honorable lives, benefiting others. Their livelihood and habits support kindness and love.

The people I respect most are those who speak well of others, or not at all. They are aware of the pollution of gossip, and act accordingly.

The people I respect most honor our planet and avoid ruining it for generations to come. They act responsibly toward Earth. Keep it clean.

The people I respect most are kind to children and animals, all beings less fortunate, and leave the word better than they found it.

The Power of Choice

Ani Kunzang with Rosie from Taras Babies Animal Rescue

From a series of tweets by @ahkonlhamo:

I am now a #Vegan, but how can I rejoice when animals are still slaughtered and tortured for their flesh and skin every day?

I #rescue animals, but how can I be happy when dogs, puppies, cats and others are killed every day because they are inconvenient?

I wonder if we can ever overcome the hatred, callousness, lack of empathy, bigotry that have become so common, and invisible?

We treat the poor, those that disagree with us, animals, different ethnicity, or religion with no respect or dignity. And ACT pious.

If we are so callous, unloving, mean-spirited and cruel- what god do we serve besides the god of ego and habitual tendency? We are blind!

One should never preach without compassion for all. Or pontificate from ego or hate. It does no good and is a disservice to the world.

It’s not for me to tell people how to eat or how to live. But it IS for me to beg that all beings be loved and cherished, given dignity.

We can commit to adding love, joy, compassion and healing to the world every day. That’s a good day. A bad day is when we hurt thru hate.

We have the extraordinary capacity for choice, mindfulness, and LOVE. To use them is mastery of life! To ignore is to wallow in ignorance.

Please, for the sake of all sentient beings, choose well! #stopthehate #bringthelove #feedthepoor

Remembering His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche

His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche
His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche 11th Throneholder of Palyul

From a series of tweets:

Today I’m making prayers to His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche, and to his publicly appointed Heir to the Throne of Palyul His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche.

May Kyabje Rinpoche’s orders and vision be accomplished without delay. May we remember how He built Namdroling with His own hands.

How Kyabje Penor Rinpoche started with nothing and gave us everything. How he worked HIS entire life creating Palyul Namdroling just as it is.

Due to Kyabje Penor Rinpoche’s unfathomable wisdom and hard work Palyul has grown to be strong as it is today, in the west, as well. HE did this.

We cannot assume our wisdom is greater than His Holiness Kyabje Penor Rinpoche. If we think that we have lost our way, and our View. He built this.

It is for us to follow HIS instruction without fail or deviation or all is lost. It is always the case-we follow His words and get good result

I know His Holiness Karma Kuchin Rinpoche has taken all Kyabje Penor Rinpoche’s advice to heart. It is up to us to do the same. Kyabje Penor Rinpoche’s intent is not gone.

And therefore we must follow perfectly and fervently, without our opinions having any meaning. He built Palyul up, and is the Buddha.

We must remember Kyabje Penor Rinpoche is Guru Rinpoche and not separate from HIM. Therefore we must remain as HE instructed without fail.

To the Wondrous Display of these Great Palyul Buddhas, these accomplishers, I pray send Dakinis and Protectors to preserve unity and perfect purity.

Please keep our great precious Palyul family from selfish desire and harm. For the sake of all beings may Palyul remain firm!

This effort is dedicated to the strength, purity, power, and continuation of Palyul for aeons yet to come. We remain as a light in the dark.

May it always be so for the sake of all motherly sentient beings. Palyul is for their sake – my children.

Using Twitter as a Bonfire of Loving Kindness

The following is from a series of Tweets posted on Twitter:

Today, having made a shout out for prayer for my son, I was blessed to have so many pray and offer kind words.

It has really gotten me thinking what a glorious tool for good Twitter can be. For myself, I’ve had my eyes opened by this.

I have seen people use it for negativity and nastiness. Such a waste when the world community is so ready to love + support!

Or even just mindlessly for selfish purpose alone. But SO many are ready to jump right in and love. I reached out, U were there!

Just to see that made my heart soar! When I told my son Twitterverse was praying for him- he broke down and cried.

I wonder if we all realize how much prayer and kindness mean at times of need or suffering. So much. Even a RT for prayer IS prayer!

What a wonderful age this is and what an amazing gathering of good tweeple! I read so many who’s message is like nectar!

So sweet and nourishing! And I think how amazing, this bonding of little lights to make a bonfire of loving kindness.

Please join with me in this great flame, and let’s use this tool to benefit others and make this world a gentler place!

I don’t think we should accept meanness, hatred or hurtfulness here. I personally feel this tool is too good to waste.

Instead it can be used to facilitate the spiritual and emotional growth for this magnificent human Family and this jewel of a Planet!

I pledge to do my part, and I know so many of you will! And I say. “AMEN” to that! EMAHO!

Condensed Amitaba Practice

Buddha Amitabha Downloadable Image
Buddha Amitaba Downloadable Image

I’d like to address the very newest Dharma practitioners, and offer the #METHOD I speak so often and so fondly of. All can benefit.

Many are interested in Buddhism, read and think about it, enjoy it’s thoughtfulness. But the main point of Dharma is accomplishment.

One can be a friend of Dharma, a supporter, collector, even a Guru junkie! But the point of Dharma is awakening, + method applied.

There are no quick and easy routes, no magic buttons, no gadgets, no tincture of this or that worth the money or effort. Dharma is free.

All you really need is a comfy cushion, a quiet sacred space, a Mala (prayer beads) an image relating to your practice really helps.

Most practice requires empowerment (Wang) breath transmission (Lung), and the Lama’s commentary. Therefore one needs a qualified Guru.

Fortunately, through compassion, certain Buddhas have made themselves more accessible in these times. One is Buddha Amitaba.

Amitaba vowed that anyone speaking His Mantra or even hearing it, He would liberate at death, thus accomplishing Dharma in one life.

Practicing Amitaba, then, is swift and extraordinary, can be done without wang or lung if the strong vow is made to seek these out asap.

As quickly as possible these tweets will be arranged usefully with an image of Amitaba for practice. Now, settle onto your cushion.

Allow the mind to simply relax and clear. Practice makes perfect, you will improve in time. The body is relaxed but the spine straight,

The legs should be crossed Indian style or Lotus style, but comfortable.

THE PRACTICE

Instantly in the space in front-above arises Buddha Amitaba.

He is red in color, one face, 2 hands resting in His lap, palms up w/knuckles touching. This mudra symbolizes meditative equipoise.

He is holding a begging bowl and wearing robes of ordination, seated in Lotus Posture. He is surrounded with His retinue of Sublime ones.

As we are awed by His splendor we take refuge with body, speech, and mind.

Buddha Amitaba I take refuge in you in this and every life”  repeat 3 x

Then, thinking kindly of all sentient beings, recite:

For the sake of beings I give rise to the Bodhicitta so all may benefit” repeat 3 x

If you have a PURE Lama, consider that while the appearance is Amitaba, the essence is identical to one’s Root Guru. If not, get one.

Then hold the mala and recite Mantra, counting with beads. One full Mala is 108 reps.

The mantra; OM AMI DEWA HRI is repeated 108 times.

While reciting, one concentrates on compassion as motivation, the extraordinary qualities of Amitaba, the yearning for Liberation in one life.

So the mind should be filled with pure Devotion and wholesome yearning, and Kindness toward all beings, every one, animals, ALL.

After at least one full Mala of Mantra, recite:

I prostrate to Amitaba Buddha!”

May I be reborn in the pure realm of great bliss

Then Amitaba and his entourage dissolve into light, and pour into top of one’s head (crown). And mixes like milk and water with one’s mind.

“And may all sentient beings without exception be placed in that very state.”

That’s a VERY short condensed method, taken from Nam Cho.

The best thing to do is make a commitment to do this practice every day. It is in the commitment and the doing that benefits,

Along with the very sacred Mantra and the blessing it holds. Therein lays benefit and accomplishment. Samaya.

Aspirational Prayer

Feeding Birds in Dakini Valley
Feeding Birds in Dakini Valley

Aspirational Prayer shared 12/2/09 via Twitter

I am thinking of so many, having lost their homes this year. And with children. With the holidays upon us- how painful! How to help?

As funding and housing and money dry up- where will the homeless go? How will they feel blessed this year? What can we do in our community?

The greatest gift now is to give rise to compassion in one’s mind. And then put it to work helping others. #Gifting#Service-these are ways
I cannot be happy without helping others, we are not separate. I will always return for the liberation of ALL sentient beings.

May I be the last to obtain Supreme Liberation so I can aid all beings. May I see the bliss if their Liberation with my own eyes!

May I not become bored or weary of helping others, and be reborn to teach the Supreme Doctrine! I will move gently with respect and love.

May I be born as whatever is needed! As a cool stream, wholesome food, shelter and warmth, a soft pillow to rest the weary. Sun upon your face!

May I never abandon my sacred vows- not even for an instant. May Blessings and Love pour from my heart like a great river, unstoppable!

May all beings be free! May there be an end to suffering! May all beings be free! And none left behind. Samsara emptied from the depths!

Cultivating Virtue

intergenerational_garden

The following teaching is from a series of tweets by Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

Happiness is a habit to be cultivated from within. Our minds are habitual but like a rider on a horse you must direct it.

Like a gardener we must cultivate good qualities. Why follow anyone with poor habits and bad qualities?

Good qualities and habits: attitude of gratitude, generosity, compassion, selflessness, right thinking, understanding of cause and result…

Don’t get caught in the trap of judgment – criticism, whining, neediness, selfishness, sloth, greed, and mindless unhelpful chatter.

What is your work? Is it in line with your morality, beliefs, conscience, does it help others? Is it honest work? These things really matter

The mind really is like a muscle to be used and developed. But so is the heart. Ethics are extremely important!

We make peace within ourselves, it does not visit, we cannot catch it. When our elements are in balance we are peaceful.

Anger, violence, grasping, fearfulness, ignorance, hatred, constant desire- these are some habits that keep us unbalanced.

If we have poor habits and qualities we also have no self esteem. And we go further into the chaos of falsity and lies. Crazy!

In short; be a proper gardener! Pull the weeds of bad habit and quality and plant the seeds of loving kindness! You will BLOOM!

Better Listen

_DSC0100

Crazy Wisdom lives inside my head.
Holy dreams when I go to bed
Bitter tears that I cannot shed
Ya better listen.

So much suffering that we cannot see
That’s the way it will always be.
Until you yourself set your mind free
Ya gotta listen.

When your only dream is about yourself
And your heart so cold you love no one else.
Will you die this way? Or ask for help?
Ya better listen.

I know only love is worth our time.
Will we reach our bliss with a life sublime
Or just continue to run blind?
Ya gotta listen!

Offerings to the Buddha Nature

His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche
His Holiness Karma Kuchen Rinpoche

From Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo:

I am creating a sacred grove as an animal refuge. We put in fruits, berries, wildflowers for the critters.

I have bee plants and bees, butterfly plants and bird plants. Also water, birdfeeders. My offering.

Wherever I am the wild ones are well cared for. Including bird houses for nesting.

I collect wildflower seeds. How the butterflys love wild nettle! Finches too. I am an official wildlife sanctuary!

There are many ways to make offerings to the Buddhas, all beings have Buddha nature. This is one.
